Joseph W. DIX, 2806 Wisconsin, Joplin, MO 64801 is searching for the marriage record of Gertrude CHAPMAN to John H. DIX. Gertrude is listed with Joseph W. CHAPMAN in the 1910 census of Jimmys Greek Township of Marion County, AR as LuIu G. age 24. Where was she born-MO or AR?

Eva B. BRUNER, 2695 Jerome Prairie Road, Grants Pass, OR 97526 would like to know the relationship of the Sterling COMBS’ family, who lived in Newton Township, MO f county not named) in the 1870’s to the APPLEGATE family. There’s supposed to be three ways they are related.

Ann WIGGS, 208 Edgefield, Garland, TX 75040 is seeking help to find the whereabouts of her grandfather, Benjamin Nelson WILLS, during the 1863 to 1870 period. He, and a twin sister, Susan Louraney, were born in Saline Co., AR in 1837. His family, listed in Saline Co. in 1850: Jarrett W. WILLS (sometimes William Jaret), age 42, farmer, married to Ruth Jane. Children: Margaret, 16; Susan and Benjamin, 12; Anna, 9; Jessie, 6; Elizabeth, 4; John, 2. Matthew was born in 1853. He was found in Hill County, TX in 1860, still with family, age 21(?) and single. He joined Sullivan Ross’ Texas Rangers for 3 months while they hunted Indian Quanah Parker to recapture Cynthia Ann Parker and return her to her family. Later WILLS and Ross joined the Confederate Army, then their paths separate. His muster in date was 2 April 1862, Comppany H, 19th Regiment of Texas Cavalry. In applying for his pension he said that it was from wounds received in battle of White River, Missouri. It has been found that he was in a skirmish on White River on 4 August 1862; a Scout on 1-5 April 1863; and another skirmish 8 May 1863. He stated in an interview given years ago that he was wounded 5 times at a bloody engagement on the White River. He was put in the hospital until well. Where were the exact locations of these events and in what hospital was he placed?
He then worked for a farmer to earn enough money to get back to Texas. He didn’t mention marriage, but-. Facts from 1880 census of McClennon County, TX: Benjamin N. WILLS born 13 April 1837 in AR; Anleatha DAVIS, wife born 1842 in TN; Hiram, son born 1866 in MO; Jesse, son born 1869 in TN; Martha J., daughter born 1873 in TN; and James, son born 1878 in TX. When and where did he marry? Records have been found until his death in 1926 except for that one period-1863-1870. Please help.

Thurman L. BASKIN, 201A Misty Isle, Las Vegas, NV 89107 needs an answer to a puzzle that bothers him concerning townships in Taney County. In the 1850 census J. Gimlin is listed as living in Benton Township, but cannot find this township on the map. He finds Swan Township where Gimlin lived. Was Benton Township in existence before 1850? Was it joined with Swan after 1850? Or did the enumerator mean to write that Benton was the post office for those families?
