Mary Anne JOHNSON, Route 1, Box 109, Marionville, MO 65705 would appreciate any help on the burial place of Martha L. LAWRENCE and/or her father, Mr. HENDERSON. She believes it might be near Brown Branch or Bradleyville. She writes this interesting story, "My second great grandfather, Samuel LAWRENCE, born near Rome in 1852 in Taney County. He married first, Martha I. HENDERSON (born 1849 in MO) about 1868. She died about 1874-75 after birthing three children: Sarah, Robert and Ida. Sam then married Katherine CLAYTON and they had two children: Birdie, who married an O’NEAL; and, William Sam, born 21 Feb 1879-died 24 Jan 1961, who married Belle BILYEU.
Sam was farming with his first father-in-law, ? HENDERSON sometime between 1879-86. They got into a fuss over a corn crop. Sam is supposed to have shot Mr. HENDERSON and killed him. Sam’s family and friends slipped him out of Missouri in a box during the night. He went to Wyoming, then to Oklahoma, where he married for the third time, a Parthenia POLLARD, without divorcing wife number two. They had five children.
Randolph LAWRENCE, Sam’s father, is buried in a little cemetery on the bluff on the northeast side of the Rome, MO bridge. Two graves by his side, unmarked except by rocks, are presumed to be his two wives.

Mary Lee (RUMLEY) DAY, Route 1, Box 132, Day Drive, Rockford, TN 37853 needs more information on the following names: (1)Robert RUMLEY and sons. Huston (born of first wife) about 1860; William and John (by second wife); (2)Wilson GRIMES; (3)Elizabeth REDDICK "They were my great grandparents and lived near Pea Ridge, AR. Their daughter, Anne, born 1861, was my grandmother who married Huston RUMLEY."
William LOWRY, 324 Gaston Hall, Lubbock, TX 79406 is hunting more background on Joseph COKER and his wife Lucinda. They had eight children, one son being Irvin Allen, who was born in Lead Hill, AR in 1829. What happened to the family from 1845 to 1850? Any help will be appreciated.
Wanda ARNOLD, Route 8 Box 47B19, Lubbock, TX 79407 is interested in contacting anyone with information about Emily GIPSON who married G. W. GIPSON. Emily was born 1819 in Alabama and died May 15, 1886 and is buried at Crane, MO. Who were her parents? Cannot find the marriage of their daughter, Lydia to William MONTGOMERY. Both are buried in Oak Grove Cemetery. Also interested in CRUMES, MARTINS, and SHIPLEYS around Crane and Marionville.
Lillian KEETON, 5616 5. 89th W. Ave., Tulsa, OK 74107 is researching the John Nave family. John and Redissa (TRIMBLE) NAVE were in Falling Springs, Gainesville, MO, Ozark County in 1860. Their children were: Asa, born 1842. Who did he marry? Mary M. married John MAHAN in 1861. Elizabeth E., born 1847, married a BARETTE. What was his given name? Allen M. born 1849, married Elizabeth WEAVER in 1869. Who are their children? Emeline, born 1854-55, married James H. SALLEE in 1867. Who are their children? Is Emeline John NAVE’S daughter or his brother, Abraham’s daughter. Both had daughters named Emeline.
Another query from Penny PEACE, 303 W. 106 #12, New York, NY 10025 asks for information on Philander L. SNOW and family who lived in Ozark County, MO in 1880 and Marion County, AR in 1900. He was born in 1828 in PA, son of Freelove Dutchard and ? SNOW. He went to Ozark Co. with his mother and step-father, James FORREST. He married Julia ? and children were: Robert, John, Abraham, Mary (married Thomas RANSOM), Nathan, Commodore, William and Ellen.
Also, she would like to correspond with other researchers of FORREST family of Ozark Co. James FORREST, born 1782 in Virginia, moved to MO about 1833. Where did he first live? Married first, ? GORDON and had two sons, Tyler and Gordon. Have no information on these sons but I’m interested in them. Married second time to Freelove Dutchard SNOW. Have much information on their children and the children of their son, Samuel. Also have photos. Is there a connection to McCORKLE family?
Mildred KING CARLTON, P.O. Box 556, Casa Grande, AZ 85222 requests information about the Bowling BAKER family, who lived in Stone County before 1850. Children: William married Sarah DAVIS in June 1860; George married Sarah Ann HALL in April 1854; Enos married Martha STONE in February 1853; Henry married Margaret GENTRY in December 1857; Martha married Francis M. CARR in October 1851; Nancy married John N. WILLIAMS in December 1851.
Olivia L. WILDMAN, 1504 N. 15th, Boise, ID 83702 needs help on the Drew HEMBREE family, early settlers of Taney County and upper White River country. She also needs more information on her father, William Dawson MOORE (4 Feb 1872-17 Mar 1949) who married Rose HEMBREE 10 May 1896 in Stone County. Needs more background on George W. Moore, her grandfather, born in Indian Territory (where?) in 1853.
Betty ROSNESS, 669 Larchmont Place, Goleta, CA 93117 would like to hear from any of the 36 classmates with whom she attended Oak Grove School in the 3rd grade in 1931-32. Teacher was Ms. Ruth Withers. She revisited the area in June of ‘83 and located the records including attendance and grades at the Branson School office.
Gladys CARLSON, 542 Sybil Lane, S.E. Marietta, GA 30067 would like to contact descendants of Rachel BRUMLEY who married James TURNER 27 May 1866 in Christian County. The 1880 census lists these children: Nancy-13; Mary-7; James-5; & William-11 or 12. She would also like to contact descendants of John and Martha Brumley RINGENBERG and Fred and California Brumley RINGENBERG.
Ray LOVAN, 2888 E. Paul, Fresno, CA 93710 writes us his personal touch about the WAKE cabin story he contributed. He lived about two miles from the cabin. When he was 12 years old his father, Emert L. LOVAN, was killed in a saw mill accident. They lived in Howell County at that time, but soon moved back to Douglas County near his Aunt Perly (TURNBULL) WAKE. (Her husband was Otis WAKE). She was a sister to my mother Nancy TURNBULL LOVAN. My paternal grandparents were Dr. John W. LOVAN Mary Alice HATCHER LOVAN.
The WAKE family lived in the cabin many years. It was a good farm. The government got it very cheap. Now it would be worth a lot of money.
