NEARLY REACHED THE CENTURY MARK
By S. C. Turnbo
One of the oldest families who settled on Swan Creek that empties into White River at Forsyth Mo. was John Pelham and Susan Pelham his wife. They both died after the close of the civil war. Mr. Pelham died soon after its close and was buried in the grave yard on the Lize Friend farm opposite Theodosia Mo. Mrs. Pelham was born in 1805 and lived until the month of February 1902 when she too passed to the great beyond. She died at the residence of Dick Cutberth on the east side of Big Creek and just over the line in Taney County Mo. She was 97 years old when she died. Her dead body received interment in the same grave yard where her dear old husband lies at rest.
