A STRANGE COLORED DEER HIDE

In speaking of different colored deer Mr. Calvin Vance said that he never seen a live deer only of its natural color, "But," said he, "I saw a peculiar colored deerhide once that I thought was out of the ordinary. Several men saw it too and had an opportunity to make all the comments they wanted to about it. My brother, John Vance, who was a merchant at Forsyth, Mo., bought this deerhide from a man who lived near Forsyth. He told my brother that he killed this deer in the hills near town. The animal was full grown. Its hide was red and white pied. Some of the white spots were larger than my hand."
