Support Library at Barnes & Noble Bookfair

November 4, 2010 — Is a Nook on your Christmas list this year? Are you a book lover who loves to give books?

You can turn your purchase dollars into more gifts when you shop during the Library Foundation’s “Barnes & Noble Bookfair” on Saturday, Nov. 13, at 3055 S. Glenstone Ave., and online Nov. 13-18.

The Library Foundation is working with Barnes & Noble to help raise funds for the Springfield-Greene County Library District.

From 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Nov. 13 at the store or online, Barnes & Noble will contribute a percentage of every sale to the Library Foundation when customers present a book fair voucher, or orders online with the voucher ID, 10263747.

Vouchers (pdf) are available online to download from the library’s website, thelibrary.org, and on hard copy at any of the 10 branches and the bookmobile.

Use your voucher in the store Nov. 13 and enter a drawing for a gift basket, a $75 value from the Between Friends gift shop. While you’re there, get in on these library-sponsored activities:

  • 10 a.m. Storytime with Leo the Library Lion
  • 11 a.m. “Conservatory X,” a musical production of the Conservatory of the Ozarks
  • 1 p.m. How to Make Herbal Teas and Gifts
  • 3 p.m. For teens: Create a custom-beaded bookmark

Can’t attend the book fair? You can still support the library district by shopping online at www.bn.com/bookfairs on Nov. 13-18 and include the book fair voucher ID, 10263747.

“Friend and Foe Alike, A Tour Guide to Missouri’s Civil War,” is a comprehensive tour guide that takes Civil War buffs around Missouri to visit battlefields and learn about the skirmishes and battles fought there. It includes detailed maps and features about the history of each site.

Wolk is a St. Louis lawyer and president of Missouri’s Civil War Heritage Foundation. He will also have copies of his book available to sell and autograph.
