E-reader Training Offered May 16, 20 and 31 at Library Center

May 11, 2011 — Three e-reader training sessions are scheduled in May at the Library Center, 4653 S. Campbell Ave. All ages are welcome to the free trainings by library staff.

The sessions will show e-reader owners how to download library e-books for free using the OverDrive software available on the library website, thelibrary.org.

The classes are not for the Amazon Kindle e-reader users because, currently, Kindles are not compatible with OverDrive software.

However, Amazon officials have said Kindles will be compatible with the software later this year due to an agreement between Amazon and OverDrive. The library will announce e-reader trainings for Kindle owners when they are able to use OverDrive.

All other e-reader owners can get downloading instructions and help at these sessions at the Library Center:

  • 6-8 p.m. Monday, May 16, in the Story Hour Room
  • 10 a.m.-noon, Friday, May 20, in the auditorium
  • 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, in the auditorium.
