Big Read Iron Chef Cook-Off and Edible Books Festival Highlight April 6 Event at Park Central Branch Library
March 30, 2012 —
Patrons of all ages are invited to attend two big events in one lively night to kick off the Library’s Big Read celebration on Friday, April 6, at the Park Central Branch Library, 128 Park Central Square.
First up is the Big Read Iron Chef Cook-Off at 6 p.m. The Big Read 2012 title, "The Maltese Falcon," is set in San Francisco, where you can find food from many cultures. Join us at the Park Central Branch Library for our annual Iron Chef Cook-off featuring chefs from Victory Trade School and a focus on San Francisco cuisine. Which team will bring "The Maltese Falcon" to life in the most mouthwatering, delicious dish?
Then stay for the Edible Books Festival at 7 p.m. Our third annual Edible Books competition will feature entries from June's Cakery, Amy Cakes, Style By the Slice and last year's winner, Stacey's Sweets. Vote for your favorite, and then enjoy eating these delicious cakes designed on the theme of "The Maltese Falcon."
Young readers can also enjoy detective stories in author Bruce Hale’s Chet Gecko Mysteries. Families can also see Hale in person at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 12, at the Library Center. For a complete schedule of Big Read events or more information, visit thelibrary.org/bigread.
