See Rare Jewels of the Rainforest During Summer Reading Programs

May 31, 2012 — Riding bikes, shooting hoops and getting wet are some favorite summer activities — for birds! Delight in the playful antics of Gusto Bluebeard (a blue-throated macaw), Tiki Toco Toucan, Swoop (an eagle-owl and considered the largest type of owl in the world), Pickles & Apples (parrotlets) and others!

Using the inherent beauty and intelligence of these rare birds, Yvonne Patterson, a naturalist and owner of Wings of Love, provides a captivating presentation that connects the audience with the extraordinary animals who share our planet. Children in grades K-5 and their parents are welcome, and performances are free.

See these Rare Jewels of the Rainforest at the following times and locations:

  • Brentwood Branch Library: Wednesday, June 6, 2 p.m.
  • Willard Recreation Center, 133 N. State Highway Z: Thursday, June 7, 10 a.m.
  • Library Center: Thursday, June 7, 1 and 2 p.m. in the auditorium
