See “Beautiful Creatures” Series Co-author Margaret Stohl April 30

April 15, 2013 — Margaret Stohl, co-author of the “Beautiful Creatures” book series – and now a major motion picture – will give a talk at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 30, at the Springfield Art Museum, 1111 E. Brookside Drive. Her books will be available for sale and autographs.

Tickets are required but are free and available at any branch of the Springfield-Greene County Library District, which is sponsoring her visit.

Please note: As most events are free, it is our policy to overbook. In case of a full program, your ticket may not guarantee admission. Seats will be released to standby customers 10 minutes prior to the start of the program. We recommend that you arrive early.

Ms. Stohl’s talk caps the Springfield-Greene County Library District’s month-long Big Read celebration. The one book, one community event focused on spine-tingling tales and “Great Tales and Poems of Edgar Allan Poe.”

With coauthor Kami Garcia, of the “Beautiful Creatures” series, Stohl has also penned “Icons,” the first book in the Icons series, due out in May. “Beautiful Creatures” was recently introduced as a major motion picture starring Hollywood heavyweights Jeremy Irons and Emma Thompson.

“Beautiful Creatures” and the other books in this series are full of mystery, strange happenings, tormented love and memorable characters…a perfect fit for our month-long celebration of all things Edgar Allan Poe.

The Big Read is a program of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with Arts Midwest, with additional funding from the Friends of the Library.

Not only is Ms. Stohl an accomplished writer, but she is also well-known and respected in the video game industry, where she worked first for Activision and then Westwood Studios and ultimately cofounded 7 Studios with her husband, Lewis Peterson. She was previously nominated for Most Innovative Game Design at the Game Developers Conference, the world's largest and longest-running professionals-only game industry event.
