Ethan Bryan “Striking Out ALS” and “Run Home & Take a Bow” Book Signing July 20

July 9, 2013 — Springfield author Ethan Bryan will sell and sign copies of his books, “Striking Out ALS: A Hero’s Tale” and “Run Home & Take a Bow,” from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 20, in the Library Center concourse.

In “Striking Out ALS,” journey with Bryan, a self-proclaimed real-life “weird character,” in his quest to attend the Kansas City Royals' Fantasy Camp in Surprise, Ariz., and the unforeseen twists in the journey that led him to take up a new cause: to raise money and awareness for the late Springfield high school baseball coach Howard Bell, whose battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) ended in March.

“Run Home & Take a Bow” shares 20 insightful stories of the intersection of baseball and faith. What can baseball teach us about living in the way of Jesus? Can going to a baseball game be an exercise in spiritual formation? Bryan discovered the answers during a season spent watching the Kansas City Royals at Kauffman Stadium.
