Peter Longley Book Signing Oct. 26 at Library Center

October 16, 2013 — Peter Longley will sell and sign copies of his latest book, “Forsythia,” from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26, in the concourse at the Library Center, 4653 S. Campbell Ave.

Encased within the drama of John Galsworthy’s, “The Forsyte Saga,” in “Forsythia,” Peter Hovenden Longley weaves an autobiographical reminiscence of his own English family from the 1880s to the 1960s. Brought up in the last days of Forsythia, a world of the 3 percent born in privilege to serve the British Empire, Longley celebrates his family’s lost generations. “Downton Abbey” fans will appreciate this insider’s look at the British upper-middle class.

Longley will also have copies of the Magdala Trilogy available for a discounted price with individual books also available at retail price. The Magdala Trilogy is three self-contained novels, “A Star’s Legacy,” “Beyond the Olive Grove,” and “The Mist of God,” that tell a plausible but fictitious account of the life of Mary Magdalene.

Longley will also have copies available of his award-winning novel, “Love is Where Your Rosemary Grows,” a love triangle that explains how the creation of a beautiful garden helps the spiritual transition of a cancer patient.

Peter Longley graduated with a master's degree in theology from Cambridge University in 1970. He was a licensed lay-reader and preacher in the Anglican Church both in Ireland and the United States. Brought up in England, Longley lived in Ireland from 1966-1977. Since 1977, he has lived in the United States in Georgia, Minnesota and Missouri.
