Come. Sit. Stay. with Bruce Cameron April 10 at Library Center; Big Deed April 13-19 Benefits C.A.R.E.

April 10, 2014 — Take some time out at 7 p.m. tonight, Thursday, April 10, at the Library Center to “Come. Sit. Stay.” And Laugh. Bruce Cameron, author of best-selling humor about dogs, dads and teenage daughters, will visit to about the lighter inspirations for his writing career.

Cameron’s visit is part of the library’s Big Read celebration featuring “The Call of the Wild” with programs and author events throughout April. It’s also a coming-home visit, of sorts. He was a Sigma Chi at Westminster College up the road a bit.

“Come. Sit. Stay. An Evening with Bruce Cameron” is perfect for all ages. Among his best-known books and New York Times best-sellers are “A Dog’s Purpose” and the sequel, “A Dog’s Journey.” He also wrote “Emory’s Gift” and his latest novel, “The Dogs of Christmas.” DreamWorks is developing “A Dog’s Purpose” as a film and he and his writing partner, Cathryn Michon, wrote the screenplay.

Parents, especially, will recognize Cameron from his book, “8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter,” He has written for TV -- the ABC-TV series “8 Simple Rules” was based on his book, and he co-wrote the feature film “40 happens,” to be released this year. His ABC series led to two sequels, “How to Remodel a Man,” and “8 Simple Rules for Marrying my Daughter.”

Cameron is a Benchley award winner for humor and was the National Society of Newspaper Columnists 2011 Newspaper Columnist of the Year. His visit during the Big Read is funded by The Library Foundation, and Cameron will sell and sign his books after his talk.
