Pardon Our Dust and Detours at the Library Center in June
May 30, 2014 —
About 11,000 people visit the Library Center at 4653 S. Campbell Ave., every week. Beginning Monday, June 2, the front entrance will be closed for construction, so those visitors will be directed to enter the building from the south side, through the Mudhouse café door. Signage will help direct visitors to the alternate entrance.
The front doors will remain closed through June so workers can dismantle the original, 14-year-old canopy and install a new one. While June is a busy month for the Library Center, the work was scheduled to be completed before the library district’s fiscal year ends June 30. Visitors are also welcome to use any of the other nine branches. Locations and hours of operation are at thelibrary.org/branches.
For safety reasons during the construction project, all visitors will be directed into the Library Center through the door to the Mudhouse, near the south patio. Families attending Summer Reading Program performances in the auditorium will be able to enter the south auditorium door from the patio.
To accommodate Library visitors, the Mudhouse will extend its hours, opening doors from 8 a.m.-9 p.m. During June, some of the café’s tables and chairs will be set up in the Library Center concourse, so patrons can dine “al fresco.”
The Library Center’s drive-through window service, the Mudhouse and Between Friends Gift Shop will remain open throughout the June construction project.
