Children’s Book Author and Illustrator Jan Brett Visits Dec. 5

Jan Brett, the author and illustrator of children’s favorite books such as “The Mitten” and “Armadillo Rodeo,” will visit with her fans about her new book, “The Animals’ Santa” at 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, in the main area of the Library Center, 4653 S. Campbell Ave.
Her visit is part of a 25-city bus tour to meet her fans, give a brief talk, demonstrate her drawing style and promote her new book for the holidays. Jan will arrive with her costumed mascot Hedgie, named for one of her favorite characters. She and Hedgie will be available for photos with their fans. “The Animals’ Santa” and several of her other titles will be available for purchase at the Library Center.
Here’s the schedule of events:
- 2 p.m. – Book sales begin in concourse.
- 4-5 p.m. – Visit with Jan’s loveable character, “Hedgie.”
- 5-5:20 p.m. – Hear Jan talk about “The Animals’ Santa.”
- 5:30 p.m. – Jan begins signing copies of her books in the auditorium; book sales continue.
The first 100 families to arrive for Jan’s talk will get a free, signed poster. The kids-only Holiday Store will also open for a sneak preview sale 4-8 p.m. in rooms A and B that night. Children’s activities will be available in the Story Hour Room from 5:30-7 p.m.
All ages are invited to enter a drawing Nov. 15-December 1 at any library branch to win a signed copy of “The Animals’ Santa.” Must be present Dec. 5 to win.
