Volunteers Needed to Help at Library’s Annual Holiday Store
November 17, 2014 —
Looking for a heartwarming way to kick off the holiday season? Consider volunteering for a few hours to help children shop for their friends and family members during the annual Holiday Store at the Springfield-Greene County Libraries.
Volunteers are still needed to work one or more shifts at the Library Station, 2535 N. Kansas Expressway, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6; and at the Library Center from 9:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6 through Friday, Dec. 12; and 1-4 p.m. Sundays Dec. 7 and 14. (Brentwood Branch slots Dec. 6 are filled.)
The store is set up in library meeting rooms and stocked with gift items at kid-friendly prices of 25 cents to $5. Volunteers are assigned to help each stay within a budget, select gifts for people on the gift list and help wrap and tag the items after checkout.
It takes many volunteers to make the store successful and thrilling for the children, so the library will conduct an information session at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, in the Library Center Story Hour Room. We’ll accept volunteer applications from individuals age 14 and older. If you can’t make the meeting but wish to volunteer, call the library human resources assistant at 616-0589.
You can also print off a volunteer application and bring it on Saturday by going to thelibrary.org/donate/volunteer.cfm.
