Keep Teens & Kids Entertained During Holiday Break: Bring Them to the Library!

December 17, 2014 — The Library has a variety of programs planned to help keep teens and kids entertained during their holiday break from school. Whether they’re visiting from out of town and need something to do, or just need to get out of the house, they’re welcome at the Library for crafts, games and more.

‘Movies at the Library’ at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 23, for all ages, in the Library Center auditorium, 4653 S. Campbell Ave. Catch some of your favorite movies on the big screen. 10 a.m. “Cars,” rated G; 1 p.m. “Cars 2,” rated G. Come-and-go activities will be available in the Children’s Department throughout the day. For more information on these free programs call 882-0714.

‘A Very Grinchy Storytime’ at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 23, for infants-age 6, at the Willard Branch Library, 304 E. Jackson St. Help the Grinch find his holiday spirit during this very Grinchy storytime! We'll watch the 1966 classic "How the Grinch Stole Christmas," not rated, and read other holiday titles. ‘Teen Writer’s Guild’ at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, Dec. 23 and 30, for teens in grades 6-12 at the Midtown Carnegie Branch Library, 397 E. Springfield’s family-friendly New Year’s Eve celebration includes the Library! DIY! on Friday, Jan. 2, at the Brentwood Branch Library, 2214 Brentwood Blvd.

  • 10 a.m.-noon for grades K-5. Calling all crafters! Brush off the winter break boredom and join us for a variety of art activities, including doodle art, brushless painting, recyclable replicas, confetti creations and more. Materials, music and hot chocolate will be provided.
  • 2-4 p.m. for grades 6-12. Did you resolve to take up a new craft in the new year? We can help. Paint, paper, yarn—choose your medium.
