Design-a-Bookmark Contests Begin Monday, Feb. 2

January 28, 2015 — Kids and teens in grades K-12 can exercise their creative muscles during the Library’s 16th Annual Design-a-Bookmark Contest for Kids and 5th Annual Design-a-Bookmark Contest for Teens. Pick up an entry form at any Springfield-Greene County Library or the Mobile Library, or print one from thelibrary.org. Entries for both contests will be accepted at any library branch from Feb. 2-March 16.

The Library District challenges kids and teens to create a library- or book-related bookmark design. The top three designs from each contest will be made into colorful bookmarks that will be printed and distributed throughout the year at all library branches and community events. Winning entries and runners-up will be posted on the Library’s website for the world to see. Winners will also receive a $20 gift certificate to the Library’s Between Friends Gift Shops. Winners will be announced during a reception at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 16, at the Library Center.

Each contest is divided into three grade categories. Children: grades K-2, 3-4 and 5-6; teens: grades 7-8, 9-10 and 11-12. Children and teens may submit as many entries as they like and any art medium may be used. Submitted designs must be the child or teen’s original work related to books, libraries and reading. Entries including copyrighted characters or art will not be considered.
