Spring Break Programs for Kids and Teens at the Library

February 24, 2015 — Looking for activities to keep kids and teens entertained during spring break? The Library can help combat spring break boredom with fun and engaging programs for kids, teens and families.

  • Monday, March 9

Republic Branch Library - Teen Book Group
4 p.m. for grades 7-12. Talk about "Dorothy Must Die" by Danielle Page.

Library Center - LEGO Brick Build-A-Long
6:30 p.m. for grades K-5 in the auditorium. Watch "The LEGO Movie," rated PG, on the big screen as you build with LEGO bricks to create your own master builder masterpiece.

Brentwood Branch Library - Spring Break Boredom Buster
2-4 p.m. for grades 6-12. Indulge in X-box One, board and card games, snacks, crafts and good company. 

Library Center - Super Smash Bros. Tournament

2:30 p.m. for grades 6-12 in meeting room B. Play to win in our "Super Smash Bros. Brawl" tournament. Controllers and snacks will be provided. Registration starts March 1; call 882-0714.

Midtown Carnegie Branch Library - Celebrate Teen Tech Week at the Library!
Noon-5 p.m. for grades 6-12. Join us for "Pac-Man" and "Mario Kart" tournaments. Test your skills and enjoy some friendly competition!

Library Center - Scavenger Hunt Day

1-4 p.m. for preschool-grade 5 in the children's department. Drop by the Library for an afternoon of scavenger hunts. Find the clues and spot hidden pictures throughout the Library to win a prize.

Library Station - Spring Break Crafternoon!

1-4 p.m. for grades K-5 in the Story Hour Room. Celebrate spring break with crafts of all kinds! Glitter, glue, feathers, yarn, foam, food – we're breaking out our best crafting supplies to keep boredom at bay.

Fair Grove Branch Library - Otaku Club

3:30-6:30 p.m. for grades 5-12. Anime fans, unite! Join us every month for anime films and Asian treats.

3-5 p.m. for age 13-grade 12. Stop by for games, crafts and movies (rated PG-13 or under) and special events!

Library Center - Spring Break Crafternoon

3:30-5:30 p.m. for grades 6-12. Join us for an afternoon of crafts in the Teen Department. Materials will be provided.

Park Central Branch Library - Park Central TV Night

5 p.m. for age 14 and older. Get your couch potato on at the library as we watch two episodes of "Supernatural," rated TV-14, featuring Sam and Dean Winchester's demon-hunting adventures. Snacks will be provided.

Library Station - 'Tween Town: Soda Pop Dough
4-6 p.m. for grades 4-8 in the Story Hour Room. Experiment with different kinds of soda to make homemade play dough and answer some scientific questions, including how does the flavor of soda affect the dough? Any dough you make you can take, and any leftover soda, you can drink!

Library Station - Teen Night: Life-size Board Games

6:-8 p.m. in the Frisco Room for grades 6-12. Think board games are boring? Not this kind! Play some favorite classic board games – giant size! We'll be the pieces; the dice will be enormous and don't even ask about the "Get Out of Jail Free" cards.

Library Center - Fairy Tale Bash

7 p.m. for preschool-grade 5 in the auditorium. Calling all lords and ladies, princes and princesses! Create your own happily ever after as we play games, sing songs and tell stories.

Willard Branch Library - 'Toons and Treats
10 a.m.-noon for all ages. Do you like cartoons from the 80s and 90s? Enjoy an old-school Saturday morning with some of your favorites, rated TV-G or PG. Come in your PJs, bring your stuffed animal and we'll provide tasty treats.

Library Center - Pi Day

2-4 p.m. for grades K-5 in the Story Hour Room. Drop in for some math fun as we celebrate Pi Day and the birthday of Albert Einstein with a variety hands-on science and math challenges.

Park Central Branch Library - Celtic Fire Irish Dancing Performance

2 p.m. for all ages. Celebrate St. Patrick's Day with the Celtic Fire Irish Dancing group as they perform traditional Irish dances and clog dances along with Irish stories and songs.

Willard Branch Library - LEGO Brick Saturday

2-4 p.m. for grades K-5. Playing, building and creating with LEGO bricks helps build memory and creativity skills. It also increases attention span and lays the foundation for logical mathematical thinking, scientific reasoning, and problem solving.

Park Central Branch Library - Weekend Walk-In Theater

6:30-8:30 p.m. for age 13 and older. Join us every Saturday night for a fun film, popcorn included! "King Arthur," rated PG-13.
