April 6, 2015 —
From his account of wild days as a “minor league misfit” to a memoir about his medical training, author Matt McCarthy weaves best-selling, talked-about tales with humor.
Adults are invited to meet and hear a talk by McCarthy at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 18, in room B of the Library Center. Copies of his books will be available for purchase and signing.
McCarthy will talk about his new Random House book, “The Real Doctor Will See You Shortly.” It chronicles his residency year at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center.
Just in time for baseball season, McCarthy will also talk about his New York Times best-seller “Odd Man Out, A Year on the Mound with a Minor League Misfit,” his account of playing for the rookie-level Provo Angels of the Pioneer League.
McCarthy has also written for Slate, Sports Illustrated and has a blog, Medspin on Deadspin.
