Help Kick Off Final Phase of Fundraising to ReNew Brentwood at Sept. 20 Block Party

August 27, 2015 — It’s still August, but we at the library are already gearing up for a major, public event in September: a free block party to kick off the final phase of the ReNew Brentwood campaign.

Thanks to several major gifts from generous donors, the Library Foundation has already raised $1.29 million of the $2.5 million needed to renovate the Brentwood Branch Library.

With your help in this final push that begins on Sunday, Sept. 20, at the Brentwood Branch, we can top off the campaign in time for an April groundbreaking.

Compact and efficient, Brentwood enjoys the third-highest number of visitors, checkouts and public computer sessions in the 10-branch library district. People living in 12 zip codes still choose Brentwood as their “home” library. For Brentwood’s fans and others, the renovation will provide more parking, a drive-up window, a climate-comfy space and the latest technology you have come to expect from the Springfield-Greene County Libraries.

So save the date. The block party is from 2-4 p.m. Sept. 20 at 2214 Brentwood Blvd. Ozarks Mountain Daredevils founder Randle Chowning will perform from 2-3 p.m.; more live entertainment, children’s activities, food and raffles run from 2-4 p.m.

For details, call Foundation Director Valerie Richardson, 616-0586, or email valerier@thelibrary.org.

Ozarks Food Harvest provided monthly prizes donated by area businesses, and provided a new Kindle Fire HD6 for the grand prize. The winner was a Holland Elementary School student who participated with his summer school class.
