Pokémon Go Players Welcome at Library PokéStops
July 15, 2016 —
Pokémon Go players (aka trainers) looking to catch ‘em all are welcome at the Library. Six branches of the Springfield-Greene County Library District are among the area landmarks and businesses tagged as official PokéStops for the new app that has sparked a flurry of urban exploration by young adults.
The Library Center on South Campbell Avenue has two PokéStops and the Andy’s Frozen Custard location across the street is a Gym. The Strafford and Fair Grove branches are PokéStops with Gyms at nearby businesses as well. The Library Station, Midtown Carnegie and Willard branches are also PokéStops.
All of our locations offer free Wi-Fi, so trainers can use ours and give their smartphone’s data a break while they’re hunting in the branches. Players are also welcome to bring their charging cables and give their device a quick charge.
And for those wanting to take Pokémon home with them, browse our collection of Pokémon books and movies. A keyword search for Pokémon in the library catalog at coolcat.org reveals more than 150 Pokémon titles for fans of the franchise to check out.
A note of caution for those hunting for Pokémon near the Brentwood Branch Library, currently closed for renovation. It is a fenced construction site. For everyone’s safety, players should stay on the sidewalk and not enter the site to capture Pokémon.
