April 19, 2010 —
The much-anticipated Friends of the Library Spring Book Sale returns with bargain-priced books, CDs and DVDs from April 27 through May 2 at Remington’s, 1655 W. Republic Road.
Hours are 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, April 27 through May 1, and 1-5 p.m. Sunday, May 2.
The Missouri State University Lady Bears and coaches will be guest volunteers at the sale from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on opening night, Tuesday, April 27.
The Friends members-only preview sale is 5-8 p.m. Monday, April 26. To attend, bring your membership card or join at the door for $5.
The Friends of the Library volunteers have collected and organized three semi-tractor trailers full of books for the annual spring sale. The event features used books and other materials in a variety of genres for children, teens and adults, and at bargain prices. Children’s books are priced 50 cents or less, adult and young adult books are $1 or less, most audiovisual materials are $1, and better books are individually priced.
Friends of the Library is the volunteer organization that supports the Springfield-Greene County Library District. Sale proceeds benefit the 10 library branches and bookmobile, and fund children’s and library patron programs. The Friends Fall Sale in October 2009 reached more than $105,000 sales.
