    Join us for a special presentation of the award-winning "Bully," rated PG-13, a character-driven documentary following the serious impact of bullying on five kids and their families over the course of a school year.   • An Evening with Tina Meier
    6:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the story hour room for all ages.
    Tina Meier's daughter, Megan Meier, committed suicide after being bullied online. In this special event, Tina, of St. Charles County, shares Megan's story and provides an overview of the technology that students are using in today's world. Topics such as bullying, bystanders, cyberbullying and sexting will be discussed, and there will be time for questions. Families are encouraged to attend; some material discussed may be inappropriate for young children. This event will be simulcast live to the Library Center, Library Station and Midtown Carnegie Branch Library. A National Bullying Prevention Month event.

    In the Ozarks, some things aren’t talked about. Even abuse. It’s the code of the hills. But prosecutor Elsie Arnold is determined to change that. So begins "The Code of the Hills," one of 2014’s most exciting mystery novels, written by Springfield’s Nancy Allen and released by national publisher HarperCollins. Nancy will read and talk about her writing and how her experience as a Missouri prosecutor inspired her. She’ll do a Q&A and sign and sell copies of her book.
