    It's a big, online world out there. Learn what to do to protect yourself and your computer when you are connected to the Internet. Learn about anti-virus programs, Internet privacy and how to keep your personal information safe. Prerequisites: Experience using keyboard and mouse. Registration starts January 3; call 883-1974.

  • Schweitzer Brentwood Branch Library - Edge Mobile Class: Learn it! Self-Paced Tutorials
    Schweitzer Brentwood Branch Library
    1-3 p.m. in the community room for adults.
    You can choose what you want to learn and go at your own speed with our self-paced tutorials. We provide the computer and you select from a wide variety of lessons designed specifically for individual learning. Topics include basic skills, Windows 10, Microsoft Office, Quickbooks, Gmail, Photoshop and more. Both interactive and video tutorials are available to fit your learning style. We also offer computer-instructed keyboarding lessons to help you learn to type or improve your typing skills. Prerequisites: Some experience using keyboard and mouse. Registration starts January 3; call 883-1974.

  • Midtown Carnegie Branch Library - Bilingual Storytime
    Midtown Carnegie Branch Library
    11 a.m. in the Children's Department for infants-grade 2.
    This bilingual, interactive storytime is designed especially for Spanish-speaking families. We'll introduce parents and children to books, reading and language with stories, songs and activities. Parents learn fun ways to build the early literacy skills their children need to learn to read.
  • Republic Branch Library - STEAM Play Saturday
    Republic Branch Library
    11 a.m. in the community room for grades K-8.
    STEAM play encourages mathematical thinking, scientific reasoning, creative problem solving and an appreciation for their connection to art. We’ll supply LEGO bricks, Raspberry Pis, simple circuits and other materials – just bring your imagination!
  • Library Center - Innovation Fair
    Library Center
    2-4 p.m. for grades K and older and their families.
    Join us for a special event in the Library Center concourse where you can build, make and create. Plus -- meet makers and inventors from southwest Missouri. Makers of all types will host booths showcasing their projects, allowing families to experience art, mechanics, technology and more. Many exhibitors will offer hands-on and interactive opportunities to inspire you to become a maker! Families are encouraged to visit the Story Hour Room, where we'll have activity stations so kids can build, play and try their hands at coding. Innovation Fair is co-sponsored by O-STEAM, coordinators of the Ozarks Mini Maker Fair. This event is made possible through a grant from the Dollar General Literacy Foundation through the Association for Library Services to Children, a division of the American Library Association.
