  • Ash Grove Branch Library - "Midnight on the Moon." An Explore Space event.

    Travel with Jack and Annie to distant times and faraway lands as we explore the Magic Tree House series by Mary Pope Osborne. Registration starts June 30; call 751-2933.
  • Schweitzer Brentwood Branch Library - Edge Mobile Class: Computer Skills I
    Schweitzer Brentwood Branch Library
    10 a.m.-noon in the community room for adults.
    Brush up on existing mouse and keyboard skills and learn the basics of word processing, including simple formatting, saving and printing documents. Prerequisites: Experience using keyboard and mouse. Registration starts June 1; call 883-1974.

    10 a.m. in the Children's Department for infants-age 6.
    Our interactive storytimes introduce young children to books, reading and language with stories, songs and activities. Parents learn fun ways to build the early literacy skills their children need to learn to read.

    10 a.m. in the Story Hour Room for infants-36 months.

  • Fair Grove Branch Library - Astronomy Abounds

    11 a.m. in the community room for grades 3-6.
    Explore our solar system and the relationship to our planet as we investigate the shadows and movements of the planets with Discovery Center of Springfield staff. An Explore Space event. Registration starts July 14; call 759-2637.

  • Schweitzer Brentwood Branch Library - Edge Mobile Class: Learn It! Self-Paced Tutorials
    Schweitzer Brentwood Branch Library
    1-3 p.m. in the community room for adults.
    You can choose what you want to learn and go at your own speed with our self-paced tutorials. We provide the computer and you select from a wide variety of lessons designed specifically for individual learning. Topics include basic skills, Windows 10, Microsoft Office, Quickbooks, Gmail, Photoshop and more. Both interactive and video tutorials are available to fit your learning style. We also offer computer-instructed keyboarding lessons to help you learn to type or improve your typing skills. Registration starts June 1; call 883-1974.
  • Library Station - Teen Friday Nights
    Library Station
    6-8 p.m. in the Frisco Room for grades 6-12.
    If it's Friday night, there's something going on at the Station just for teens. Materials will be provided. Nature Art: Use objects found in nature to create art you can leave outside to decorate your porch, yard and more.

  • Midtown Carnegie Branch Library - Celebrate Summer Reading with Babaloo!
    Midtown Carnegie Branch Library
    1-4 p.m. for all ages.
    Join us on the parking lot as we wind down the Summer Reading Program. The fun begins with a performance from Babaloo, a one-man musical comedy act, from 1-2 p.m. Be prepared to laugh, sing, dance and make big noise! Stay the afternoon for games, activities and light refreshments. In case of rain, event will be held in the upstairs meeting room.
  • Library Station - Happy Birthday, Harry!

    6-8 p.m. in the Frisco Room for grades 6-12 and adults.
    Are you the ultimate Harry Potter fan? Join us for a trivia contest in honor of Harry Potter’s birthday. Teams of four will compete to determine if they are the true trivia champions of the wizarding world! Registration starts July 15; call 865-1340.
