    Schweitzer Brentwood Branch Library
    10 a.m. in the community room for infants-36 months.
    Our interactive storytimes introduce young children to books, reading and language with stories, songs and activities. Parents learn fun ways to build the early literacy skills their children need to learn to read.

    Tired of the same old computer programs and games? Take charge of Scratch the Cat on the Raspberry Pi and use him to code and create your own story or program.
  • South Side Senior Center - "Leaving Time" by Jodi Picoult

    1:30 p.m. at South Side Senior Center, 2215 S. Fremont Ave. for adults.
    Liven up your afternoon by joining friends and library staff to talk about the monthly book selection.
  • Willard Branch Library - Teen Thursdays
    Willard Branch Library
    3-5 p.m. in the community room for grades 6-12.
    Thursdays are for teens at the Willard Branch Library. All teens are welcome to come chat about their favorite movies and books and play games.
  • Schweitzer Brentwood Branch Library - Board Up & Game On!

    4-6 p.m. for grades 6-8.
    Get your game on, enjoy some snacks and make some new friends in the Teen Department! Each session will feature a different board game, but we’ll have lots of other board, card and video games available for free play.
  • Library Center - Club Awesome!

    6-7:30 p.m. in the Story Hour Room for grades 4-8.
    Join us the third Thursday of every month for activities just for tweens. Materials will be provided. "Harry Potter," "Percy Jackson," "Wings of Fire" -- Join us to talk about your favorite books, do book-themed crafts and eat snacks. .
  • Mother's Brewing Company - Books & Brew
    Offsite
    6 p.m. at Mother's Brewing Company, 215 S. Grant Ave. for adults.
    Enjoy a cold glass of beer and discuss aspects of American culture. "Three Squares: The Invention of the American Meal" by Abigail Carroll.
  • Schweitzer Brentwood Branch Library - An Introduction to Contract Bridge
    Schweitzer Brentwood Branch Library
    6:30-8:30 p.m. in the community room for adults.
    Exercise your brain and have fun making new friends as you learn to play Contract Bridge. Whether you're a beginner or want to update your bidding and play, this class is for you. Members of the Bridge Center will give an introductory course over four consecutive Thursday evenings. Registration starts August 24; call 883-1974.
  • Library Station - Yoga for Health
    Library Station
    6:30 p.m. in the Frisco Room for adults.
    Join Library staff member and registered yoga teacher Kim Duquette on the third Thursday of the month for a gentle yoga class. Emphasis will be on basic yoga techniques designed to increase strength and flexibility, improve posture and balance, enhance concentration and calm the nervous system.

    It's a big online world out there. Learn what to do to protect yourself and your computer when you are connected to the Internet. Learn about anti-virus programs, Internet privacy and how to keep your personal information safe. Prerequisites: Experience using keyboard and mouse. Registration starts August 1; call 883-1974.
