  • Library Center - Build a Better World on Another Planet!
    Library Center
    8:30 a.m.-9 p.m. in the Story Hour Room for grades K-6.
    A new planet has been discovered and it's up to you to colonize it! We need habitats, food, water and more. Drop by throughout the weekend to visit our planet, help us add to the space colony and see what others have made. Materials will be provided. An Explore Space event.

    9:30 a.m. in the community room for infants-age 6.
    Our interactive storytimes introduce young children to books, reading and language with stories, songs and activities. Parents learn fun ways to build the early literacy skills their children need to learn to read.
  • Midtown Carnegie Branch Library - Racing to Read Storytime

    10 a.m. in the Children's Department for infants-age 6.
    Our interactive storytimes introduce young children to books, reading and language with stories, songs and activities. Parents learn fun ways to build the early literacy skills their children need to learn to read.

  • Republic Branch Library - Edge Mobile Class: Understanding Facebook
    Republic Branch Library
    10 a.m.-noon in the community room for adults.
    Create a Facebook account or use your existing account in this hands-on class. Learn how to personalize your account, review privacy settings, manage your friends, post to your own timeline, and "Like" and comment on other people's posts. A valid email address is required to create a Facebook account; have your email address and Facebook password available if you wish to use your existing account in class. Prerequisites: Experience using keyboard and mouse. Registration starts June 1; call 732-7284.

  • Republic Branch Library - Edge Mobile Class: Learn It! Self-Paced Tutorials
    Republic Branch Library
    1-3 p.m. in the community room for adults.
    You can choose what you want to learn and go at your own speed with our self-paced tutorials. We provide the computer and you select from a wide variety of lessons designed specifically for individual learning. Topics include basic skills, Windows 10, Microsoft Office, Quickbooks, Gmail, Photoshop and more. Both interactive and video tutorials are available to fit your learning style. We also offer computer-instructed keyboarding lessons to help you learn to type or improve your typing skills. Registration starts June 1; call 732-7284.
  • Library Center - Escape from Hogwarts
    Library Center
    6-9 p.m. in the meeting rooms A and B for adults.
    Discover the world of sorcerers and magic as you explore the castle and figure out secret codes and clues to solve puzzles and rescue everyone from Hogwarts. Registration for this program is full. Registration starts July 7; call 883-5341.
  • Library Station - Teen Friday Nights
    Library Station
    6-8 p.m. in the Frisco Room for grades 6-12.
    If it's Friday night, there's something going on at the Station just for teens. Materials will be provided. Spread the Post-It Note Love: Write down something nice on a Post-It note and hide it around the library to brighten someone’s day. .

    Join us every month for beautifully filmed documentaries about our planet and its wonders. "Chimpanzee," rated G.
  • Republic Branch Library - Build-It Saturday
    Republic Branch Library
    11 a.m. in the community room for grades K-8.
    Love to build? See what you can construct at the Library using your imagination and LEGO bricks, blocks and other building materials.
  • Library Station - Intergalactic Spray Paint Art
    Library Station
    5-7 p.m. for grades 6-12.
    Join artist Taylor Hopkins in the south parking lot as he demonstrates how to make space-themed art using spray paint. Then work together to create a giant picture of outer space to display in the library. Materials will be provided. An Explore Space event.
