The Library's Early Literacy Program

For Babies

A Tell Stories Activity for Babies

Baby's Day

Tell Stories Create stories, play make-believe and let your child be a storyteller.

PLAY

Baby's Day

Don't forget that your life is a story too! Describe what you are doing as you get ready for your day, tell baby where you are going next and talk about your day as you get ready for bed. You are so busy, enjoy telling baby all about it!

SING

The Wheels on the Bus

(Roll hands as pretend "wheels" and act out the rest of the song)

The wheels on the bus go round and round,
Round and round, round and round.
The wheels on the bus go round and round,
All through the town.

The people on the bus go up and down,
Up and down, up and down.
The people on the bus go up and down,
All through the town.

Additional verses:
The wipers on the bus go swish, swish, swish...
The horn on the bus goes beep, beep, beep..
The lights on the bus go on and off...
The doors on the bus go open and shut...

Feel free to add any other verses you can think of!
