Diamond Tears

The sky is black with charcoal clouds
Rain like diamond tears falls down
In the middle of the crowded street she stands
Pain on her face, and her face in her hands.
She wishes she knew what to do right now,
Wants badly to help but she doesn’t know how.

Amethyst eyes that are drained of tears
Bear the weight of a thousand years,
But she won’t give in—she won’t start crying
Even as her world is fading, dying.
The rain falls down on her little face.
She gives it all up and her tears start to race.

And as her whole life breaks apart
Her thin arms cradle a shattered heart
And she tries through the pain to keep walking on
Though the night is still dark with no hint of dawn.
Life is a puzzle she won’t piece together,
But she’ll keep holding on and she’ll never say never.

She knows she’ll keep pushing, no matter the price,
Her problems veil her, compassion is ice.
But her family’s there and she knows they will care
So she stands in the street and she keeps standing there
Her tears fall like diamonds and mix with the rain
And she raises her head and lets go of the pain.
