Money Smart Week: Credit Report Tips

Money Smart Week @ Your Library kicked off this week with two courses on Free Credit Report/Credit Improvement. Are you planning a big purchase or have concerns on identity theft?  Periodic reviews of your credit report will help you track your progress and fix any errors as soon as possible.

If you were unable to attend these courses, a final session is scheduled for Saturday, April 28th at the Library Station from 10 am - 2 pm (drop in any time).  The EDGE Community Technology Center will set up laptops in the Frisco Room and staff will be on hand to assist with navigating through the process of getting your credit report online and printing the report.

Tip: Since you are legally allowed to get one free credit report per year from each of the three reporting agencies, spread these out over the year to more frequently monitor your credit standing.  For example, get your Equifax report in January, your Experian report in June and your TransUnion report in October.
