Friends of the Library Pledge $300,000 Toward Brentwood Branch Library Renovation

The effort to raise money for the Brentwood Branch Library renovation project is off to a great start, and the campaign hasn’t even begun. The Friends of the Library has committed the first, major gift toward the project, pledging $300,000, or $100,000 a year for three years.

The funds will come from the Friends spring and fall book sales proceeds, which before expenses totaled $247,301.86 from the two events in 2012.

“Once again, our hard-working Friends of the Library have stepped up to support the Library District,” said Executive Director Regina Cooper. “Their gift to the Brentwood campaign provides the initiative needed for a bright future for the Brentwood Branch.”

The library design and renovation project is estimated to cost about $2 million, and is expected to be funded through private gifts and a capital campaign conducted by the Springfield-Greene County Library Foundation.
