Giant Friends of the Library Fall Book Sale is October 18-22

The Friends of the Library Fall Book Sale returns Oct. 18-22 to the E*Plex on the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds, 3001 N. Grant Ave. Parking and admission are free. Cash or checks accepted.

Hours are 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, through Saturday, Oct. 21; and 1-5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 22. Saturday is Half-Price Day and Sunday is the ever-popular Bag Day, when everything you can stuff in a sack is $1, or $5 from the better books side.

Friends Night Preview Sale is 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17. That night only, bring your Friends membership card to get in free, or pay $5 at the door, shop all you want and you have the option of joining the Friends that night. Membership entitles you to get into the Spring Book Sale Friends Night Preview Sale in April 2018 for free, and provides discounts at the Between Friends Gift Shops in several library branches.

This is a great opportunity to stock your home library for yourself or your children or home day care. Indulge in your sci-fi or romance novel fandom for pennies on the dollar. Find like-new books for gifts. Pick up on bargain-priced CDs, DVDs, audiobooks, games and puzzles.

Enjoy bargain-basement prices: Adult, young adult and children’s books and most audiovisuals are $1 or less; better books are $2 and up.

Proceeds from the spring and fall Friends of the Library book sales support the annual Summer Reading Program, projects at all 10 library district branches, the Mobile Library bookmobile, author events and contributes to large projects such as the $500,000 donation toward the Schweitzer Brentwood Branch Library renovation.

The primary mission of the Friends of the Library is to promote Library services and resources, foster a positive relationship between the Library and the community, secure volunteers and raise funds to support the Springfield-Greene County Library District.
