Mysteries Popular in October; Learn About OverDrive, Hoopla & RBdigital Nov. 14; Practice Yoga Nov. 16

When it comes to reading fiction, we sure love our mysteries.

Here are the fiction titles checked out most often in October. How many have you read? “Camino Island” by John Grisham; three James Patterson books: “Murder Games,” “The Store” and “Haunted.” Also, “Come Sundown” by Nora Roberts; “Seeing Red” by Sandra Brown; “Y is for Yesterday” by Sue Grafton; “Dangerous Minds” by Janet Evanovich; “The Fix” by David Baldacci; and “Enigma” by Catherine Coulter.

Readers had more eclectic tastes when it came to nonfiction. The top 10 checkouts in October: “Hillbilly Elegy, A Memoir of a Family and Culture in Crisis” by J.D. Vance; “Paperbacks from Hell, the Twisted History of ‘70s and ‘80s Horror Fiction” by Grady Hendrix, who spoke at library programs in October; “Killers of the Flower Moon, the Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI” by David Grann; “The Good Food Revolution, Growing Healthy Food, People, and Communities” by Will Allen; “The Zookeeper’s Wife” by Diane Ackerman; “Hidden Figures, The American Dream and the Untold Story of the Black Women Mathematicians Who Helped” by Margot Lee Shetterly; “The Magnolia Story” by Chip Gaines; “The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up” by Marie Kondo; “Reading with Patrick, A Teacher, a Student, and a Life-changing Friendship” by Michelle Kuo; and “The Sound of Gravel, A Memoir” by Ruth Wariner.
