The Peoples Meet and Greet Presents History Celebration Feb. 3
Patrons of all ages are invited to attend The Peoples Meet and Greet presents History Celebration from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 3, at the Midtown Carnegie Branch Library, 397 E. Central St.
Refreshments served; families and students welcome.
· 1 p.m.: Dress in 1920s-30s attire for a Harlem Renaissance Costume Party Social inspired by sociologist Charles Spurgeon Johnson’s 1924 New York Civic Club meeting; book display inspired by Dr. Sabrina A. Brinson, Diversity Fellow and Missouri State University professor.
· 1:45 p.m.: A History Hat Show modeled by preschoolers.
· 2:30 p.m.: 1 Word, 3 Community Guests and You – What is Sunday to You? with Calvin Allen, Springfield Community Center executive director; Gari Ann McElroy, Grant Early Head Start teacher; and Kat Stewart, Penmac branch manager.
