Author Hope Nicholson Presents “Spectacular Sisterhood of Superwomen” Aug. 17
Author Hope Nicholson will talk about her book, “The Spectacular Sisterhood of Superwomen: Awesome Female Characters from Comic Book History” at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17, in the Library Center auditorium. The book looks at the history of women in comics from the 1930s to 2010s.
Her Friday talk is the kickoff event for the 2018 LibraryCon, which begins Saturday, Aug. 18, and runs from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. throughout the Library Center with the creators behind comics, books, games and more. The family-friendly event is geared for all ages. Nicholson will also appear on a panel during Saturday's LibraryCon.
Nicholson is an author, comics historian, publisher and owner of the Winnipeg-based publishing house Bedside Press, which creates graphic novels and prose fiction including "The Secret Loves of Geek Girls" and "Love Beyond Body, Space, and Time." Books will be available for sale and signing.
