Need Help with Microsoft Office? Edge Classes Teach You the Basics

Whether you’re an adult student or the secretary for a club or church committee, there’s always a need for documents and slide presentations.

If you need help doing any of those tasks on a computer, there’s a class for you at the Edge Community Technology Center in the Midtown Carnegie Branch Library.

Adults can register now for instructor-led classes or self-directed sessions on the basics of Microsoft Office programs.

Each class explains how to get started with Word, Excel, or PowerPoint: what the program is used for, where to find its commonly used features, and how to create and customize a basic file in that program. There is no fee.

You can register for these or other Edge classes by calling the Edge at 417-837-5011.

If you want a general overview, an introduction to all three programs will be offered from 1-3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29.

More classes on all three programs are planned throughout the year.

If you prefer to learn on your own, you can take video tutorials at the Edge or by appointment to attend a tutorial session at another library branch. The tutorial sessions offer interactive software with video lessons on Microsoft Office programs.

You can also use Lynda.com video tutorials at the Edge, at home or anywhere with internet access at thelibrary.org/Lynda. Simply create a free account with your library card and search for the Microsoft Office program you want to learn about.

The Edge also offers one-on-one help by appointment. Edge staff provide up to an hour of individual help to answer your specific questions about your computer, tablet, or smartphone. For details call 417-837-5011.
