Grace Methodist Episcopal Church, established by the pastor Rev. C. V. Criss, had just concluded its fourth Autumn Festival and it was considered a prominent event in Springfield. The church was decorated with autumn leaves, palms and foliage plants, and bright scarlet and gold blooms.
Performers on Wednesday evening were the Male Quartette. Dr. J. W. Stewart of Carthage, delivered a lecture on ‘Modern People’.
Thursday evening was the grand concert which included the Busch Orchestra, the anthem by Grace M.E. Choir, Mrs. Dr. Wetzel, Miss Florence Keet, Miss Elizabeth Hull, Miss Nell Woods, Harry Nelson, and Miss Clara E. Smith. A special performance by Miss Emma Johns of Carthage on piano and Mrs. George Parkhurst of Topeka, Kansas charmed their listeners.
