If New Tech Toys are Under the Tree, We Can Help You Master Them!

Smartphones, laptops, iPads and personal computers are high on holiday gift lists. But operating them isn’t always intuitive.

We don’t have an app for that; we have an entire assortment of classes – and the option for one-on-one help – to help you embrace your new or upgraded technology. They’re offered at the Edge Community Technology Center below the Midtown Carnegie Branch. Many of the classes are also offered at the other library branches.

You can see what’s offered in the new schedule available at all library branches or at thelibrary.org/edge.

No-pressure classes cover the essentials – computer basics and the Microsoft Office Suite; Windows 10, the internet, Facebook and email. You can also access Lynda.com at The Edge or remotely for thousands of courses and online tutorials to learn or perfect your computer/technical skills, iPhone and iPad functions, and much more.

For details or an appointment for one-on-one help, call The Edge at 837-5011 or visit thelibrary.org/edge.

If you missed seeing the World War I exhibit in the Library Center concourse, we’ve extended its stay through December. If company is coming for the holidays, show off a Smithsonian-quality exhibit close to home and visit Missouri and the Great War.

The multi-panel exhibit portrays in historical photos and text the roles that Missourians played in WWI. Southwest Missouri soldiers are among the faces and stories you’ll see.

The exhibit was developed by the Missouri Humanities Council and the Springfield-Greene County Library District. Funding provided by the Missouri Humanities Council, Friends of the Springfield-Greene County Library District, and the RDW Family and Community Fund.

Explore more Missouri WWI photos, letters and artifacts on the library’s website, Missouri and the Great War, at missourioverthere.org.
