Local History and Genealogy Department's new look
The Local History and Genealogy Department has new carpet and a new layout!
The carpet installation is complete in Local History! The process required nearly all of the collection be temporarily moved to allow for carpet installation. During this process, the Library added additional shelving and rearranged the collection.
The collection is a mixture of circulating and reference works with a focus on Missouri and southwest Missouri subjects - covering diverse topics such as law, recipes, history, gardening, nature, and art. The department also includes local, regional, and national genealogy research materials including printed family histories. This is supplemented with a significant collection of out-of-state genealogy books provided by our partners, the Ozarks Genealogical Society.
If you would like a tour, come by the Local History and Genealogy Department at the Library Center and we would be happy to introduce you to the new layout. The map below will give you a general idea of the new stacks.
