Explore Historical Images
FamilySearch has a new search interface on their genealogical website. The user friendly interface, named Explore Historical Images, helps users search image groups by location. Nearly 80% of the documents on the website are not indexed, and so users must search by location to discover the materials. FamilySearch states that a very small percentage of users were taking advantage of the location searches available through the original online catalog. The new Explore Historical Images interface makes navigating this type of search much easier. After creating a free account, the link can be accessed under the “search” and then the “images” link on the Family Search site.
Some online images and books can only be viewed at a Family History Center or a FamilySearch affiliate library. The Library Center is an affiliate library. You can access these records through the Library District’s computers or on your own device using the Library’s Wi-Fi.
