Library Receives Grant for Death & Dying Program Series

A series of four programs focused on "Death & Dying: Conversations on End-of-Life Matters" is planned in November in Springfield with the help of a $640 grant from the Hospice Foundation of the Ozarks, a nonprofit organization supporting initiatives for dignity at life’s end. The Library Foundation applied for the grant in order to continue conversations the Springfield-Greene County Library District hosted in its popular Death & Dying series in 2016, 2018 and 2019.

"With the COVID-19 pandemic ongoing and the challenges it presents to our society, it’s more important than ever that we have open and honest conversations about our end-of-life concerns and desires with our loved ones," said project director and library staffer Sarah Rosendahl.

"We really appreciate the support of the Hospice Foundation of the Ozarks as we continue to offer the community opportunities to discuss death and dying topics."

The 2020 series will be offered as virtual events and will include programs with local presenters from Respecting Choices of the Ozarks, Lost & Found Grief Center and others. This is the fourth grant awarded to the library district by the Hospice Foundation in support of programs on end-of-life matters. To learn more about the work of these area foundations visit hospiceozarks.org and foundation.thelibrary.org.
