Government Blogs

There aren't many people in the U.S. who haven't heard of blogging. A fad that started in the late 90s, blogs are quickly become a mainstay of information culture. Blogs are easy to start and simple to maintain -- and they've made sharing timely information as simple as pushing a button.

The United States government has decided to take advantage of this user-friendly publishing format. Many departments offer blogs that highlight the latest news and events from their corner of the federal government.

A selection of what's available:

White House Blog:  The White House Blog is updated frequently with the latest news and videos from the White House.  It is a place for the President and his administration to connect with the rest of the nation and the world.

NASA CIO Blog: Blog of the NASA's Chief Information Officer, Linda Cureton.

The Beacon: The Beacon, the official blog of the U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services, was created to foster an ongoing dialogue on the immigration and naturalization process in the United States. Content offers answers to frequently asked questions along with special interest stories.

Open Government Blog: On his first day in Office, President Obama signed the Memorandum on Transparency and Open Government. The stated goals in this memo called for increased transparency in the federal government. The Open Government Blog highlights action that has been taken toward this end.

Inside Adams: Blog for the Library of Congress. Inside Adams will point readers to the Library’s large and diverse collections, bibliographies, research guides, and special pages. As for the blog's curious name? This blog also shares the history, art, and architecture of the John Adams Building, one of the three buildings that houses the Library of Congress.
