First Chapter Books

Moving into chapter books is an exciting time for new readers. The library has resources for parents to use with their new readers to help them practice newly acquired skills.
There are several chapter books series that are great for growing readers as they move into a new format. These chapter books offer simple text and include illustrations and have storylines appealing to grades 1 through 3. The amount of text varies with each series and title. They are found in the Juvenile Fiction section of the Children’s Department at each library branch. If titles are not available at your home branch, you can make a request with a librarian or online.
