MAKER SPACE

Business owners, nonprofits and hobbyists can make their own promotions, preserve photos, solder materials or DIY in 3D at the Maker Space, located in the Edge Community Technology Center. Use of the equipment is free; fees apply for 3D printer filament, vinyl or solder.

Use of the Maker Space, including tours to get acquainted with the equipment, is by appointment by calling the Edge at 417-837-5011.

Introduction to the Maker Space

An overview of the equipment available for your use at the Maker Space, including a laser engraver, vinyl cutter, 3D printer, video transfer equipment and soldering stations. Fees apply for materials.

3D Printers

Use the one of the 3D printers (Ultimaker S5 3D Printer with Cura Software or Makerbot 5th Generation 3D Printer) to make everything from replacement parts for cabinets and shelving, to board game pieces. Fees apply for filament.

Laser Engraver

Use the laser engraver (Glowforge Pro Laser Printer) to make beautiful designs on wood, acrylic, paper and cardboard, or make your own puzzles.

Vinyl Cutter & Heat Press

Program the vinyl cutter (USCutter SC2 Series vinyl cutter with VinylMaster Cut Design & Cut Software) and make iron-on transfers for T-shirts, bags, flags and signs. Use the 15" x 15" Clamshell Heat Press to apply the transfers. Bring your own vinyl, or use ours (fees apply.)

Slide Scanner & Video Capture Station

Convert and save your camera film negatives, slides, VHS and DVD movies to a USB drive or SD card with the video transfer equipment (Plustek OpticFilm 8200i AIand HD Video Capture Ultimate.) Bring your own USB drive or SD card; we do not stock storage media.

Soldering Station

Use one of two Weller 1010 Soldering Stations to repair electric and electronic components, make or fix jewelry, repair metal joints, stained glass, mosaics or other home projects. A supply of lead-free solder is available (fees apply), or you may bring your own lead-free solder.


The Maker Space was generously supported with grants through the Library Services and Technology Act, and the Friends of the Library. The project is supported by the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act as administered by the Missouri State Library, a division of the Office of the Secretary of State.
