For Educators

The Springfield-Greene County Library District is committed to lifelong learning, and that includes supporting Greene County educators! We provide services to educators in our branches and at your schools.

To request these services, please call your local branch library at least 30 days in advance.

Not sure which branch library serves your school? Call 417-616-0585.

School Library Card

Building principals can register for library cards for school use. Learn how to apply for a library card.

Library Tours

Bring your class for a tour of the library, including a visit to the "behind the scenes" departments. We will showcase pertinent resources and collections, and provide instructions for using them. And of course, we love presenting storytimes to classes, too!

Group Programs

Have you seen an interesting youth program in Bookends? We are happy to replicate programs offered to the public for school classrooms or home school groups when resources and staffing allow. Please allow additional time for scheduling special group programs.

Test Proctoring

Most proctoring services can be provided at any branch, except Park Central Branch, during regular library hours.

Customized Booklists

Need a booklist for a topic or issue your class is dealing with or studying? We'll provide an age- or grade-appropriate list of titles you can find at the Library.

Classroom Visit

We'll visit your classroom to provide age-appropriate instruction about how to use the library catalog, our digital resources such as Hoopla and Libby, or any of our research resources. We can also help you get your classroom energized and motivated to read! We will provide book talks for new titles, the latest nominees or award books and other topics.

Promote Literacy!

Invite us to your next open house, parent night or family literacy night. We'll provide a game or activity for the kids and library promotional materials to share with families.

Educator Professional Development

Invite us to your next training event to learn about the vast array of resources and expertise we can provide to support learning! We also provide workshops for early childhood educators. Learn more about our early literacy initiative, Racing to Read.
