NASA and Future Engineers are challenging students to imagine leading a week-long expedition at the Moon’s South Pole, then describe what talents and technology their crews would need to be successful. To help all essayists, NASA has created a score of education resources to learn more about the moon and the Artemis program. The education resources include podcasts to help students learn how astronauts train, activities that examine space suit priorities and enhancements, and videos and articles that explore the goals and challenges of the Artemis program.

Every youth who submits an essay will receive a certificate from NASA and be invited to a special NASA virtual event with an astronaut. The national winners from each of the grade categories (grades K-4, 5-8 and 9-12) will win family trips to see the first Artemis test launch at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
