Discover Exoplanets at the Library Station!

Do you have any space enthusiasts in your home? An out-of-this-world exhibit is available at the Library Station! Discover Exoplanets: The Search for Alien Earths is an interactive learning exhibit presented by NASA and the Space Science Institute. The all-ages exhibit features touch screen kiosks to learn about exoplanets and how they are discovered. In addition, enjoy a walk through the Children’s Department and read You Are Going, a story about future Artemis missions to the moon, and a display of the ABC’s of Exoplanets. The exhibit will be up at the Library Station and the Discovery Center of Springfield from March 21st through June 25, 2022. Did you know you can check out a Discovery Center pass from the library that admits up to six people? 

Check out the exhibit and attend additional kids, teen, and family-friendly programming to expand on the experience. Upcoming programming includes:

First Friday Art Walk- Friday, May 6, 6:30-9 p.m. at the Park Central Branch. Join us for First Friday Art Walk, including the opening of a new exhibit.

Teen LARP (Live Action Role Play) Night- Friday, May 13, 6-7:30 p.m. for grades 6-12 in the Library Station Frisco & Santa Fe rooms. You are aboard an earthling ship that has crash-landed on a strange exoplanet. With your group, you must create a community and survive Planet EXO and any obstacles you face. 

Space Fest- Saturday, May 21, 2-4 p.m. for families with children age 3 and older in the Library Station Frisco and Santa Fe rooms. Drop in for games, crafts, experiments, virtual reality and other activities designed to help you learn more about our universe!
