If you’re looking for some fresh and fun picture books to share with your child, look no further than the Missouri Building Block Picture Book Awards (Building Blocks). This year’s list of nominees is a great place to start. You can also visit the Library’s Building Block Award webpage to find complete lists of past winners and nominees. Read at least five of this year’s nominees and then vote for your favorite here no later than January 15, 2021.
Do you know what anteaters eat? In What Does an Anteater Eat? by Ross Collins, Anteater is hungry but has forgotten what an anteater is supposed to eat! Anteater takes a walk through the jungle to ask some of his friends for advice but they don’t know either. This fun story has detailed pictures and a sequence of events that will both keep children interested. The unexpected ending of how Anteater figures out the perfect food will make the readers laugh out loud!
