By Julia at the Schweitzer Brentwood Branch Library
As your child’s first and most important teacher your child learns very early how families work together and help each other. By expressing feelings and cooperating at home, our children learn first-hand how to treat others and family values. Ultimately, they learn about love and community.
This month, the Schweitzer Brentwood Branch Library is featuring books about families, friendship and community. Families can read and share their thoughts about how people everywhere can help each other, accept differences and build relationships.
There will be two Racing to Read At Home kits during the month. One features “Friendship Cards” to make at home for friends or neighbors. Another includes materials to make a “Family Quilt” using construction paper. Check out these and other fun take-home kits while supplies last.
Some of our featured books include:
With a Little Help From My Friends by John Lennon & Paul McCartney, illustrated by Henry Cole
At the Mountain's Base by Traci Sorell, illustrated by Weshoyot Alivitre
All Kinds of Friends by Shelley Rotner & Shelia M. Kelly
The Stars Just Up the Street by Sue Soltis, illustrated by Christine Davenier
