New Book Spotlight: Fly by Brittany J. Thurman, illustrated by Anna Cunha
When Africa sees a sign advertising a double Dutch competition, she knows she has to enter. After all, her Nana was the best double Dutcher around back in the day. There is only one problem - she has never double Dutched before. According to her brother, "you can't do something you've never done before." Not one to be deterred, Africa asks all of her friends for help. Even though they haven't double Dutched either, they all have skills to share. Soon, Africa is dancing, stepping, cartwheeling, singing, moving her hands this way and that...and double Dutching like a pro. This charming story about persistence and friendship will speak to little ones learning to tackle big things.
